We work with Maine Teachers, Schools, PTO's, and other community partners to offer our In-Class Workshops to communities across our great state. Workshops are designed for K-5th Grade students, with some options for 6th graders. We typically serve public and private schools in the State of Maine. However, our in-class workshops are also perfect for libraries, recreation departments, home school groups, after school programs, girl scouts, cub scouts, summer school programs, and any other organization that serves children ages 5-12! Some of the schools that have booked our Workshops include: The Jameson Elementary School, Hussey Elementary, Loranger Middle School, Reiche Elementary, and Lyseth Elementary, and Mount Merici Academy among many other organizations, school districts, private schools, and non-profits. In total every year, we serve over 50 schools with our Science programming.
You can choose a workshop or series of workshops to meet your budgetary and curriculum needs. Workshops can be offered to all of your K-5th Grade classrooms or to just some of your grade levels. Mad Science can visit your school as many times throughout the school year as you would like. Many schools and organizations use our workshops to supplement their existing science program, some use it as their introduction to specific science topics, while others use our workshops as a reward for classes or groups of kids that participate in school programs. Schools will often book a different themed topic for each grade level, offering 4 workshops in one day to each grade within a 2-3 week period. Teachers and Principals can use our Program Correlations to aid with their topic decisions.
Workshops are facilitated by our most experienced Mad Scientists. Your students will engage in a series of hands on activities and witness exciting demonstrations. We use an inquiry based approach to involve students in the learning process through hands-on exploration.
Cost depends on the number of workshops your school or organization schedules, the number of students you have per classroom, and the workshop topic you would like. Most of our workshop topics are 60 minute long workshops. Some topics are 90 minutes long. If you prefer a 90 minute workshop we can elongate any workshop topic to be a 90 minute program.

If you are a PTO or PTA group, we can offer a subsidized Special Event to aid in your fundraising campaign. Individual parents can also fund our programs for their child's classroom, as long as it is coordinated and approved between school officials and the classroom teacher.
